The Campins Cast of “Characters”

Children play this game with their friends where they each choose to play a character out of their favorite Movie or TV Show. This meant on a given summer day in the 90’s, depending on the level parental guidance, you could come across a live installment of anything from Batman to Baywatch.
Now, imagine the same game being played by fully developed, right minded adults. With iPhones. Facebook fan pages. And a family business. Because in my family, the imaginary cameras have not stopped rolling and the characters have yet to break scene.
.:. Sofia Campins .:. The proverbial matriarch, but not in the biblical sense, more like the telenovela sense. She is usually only a raised eyebrows, theatrical outburst away from her next scene. Being the imaginative and dynamic character that she is, it’s only logical to have her as Director of Marketing. She is a true professional, provoking emotion, interest and loyalty by creating innovative ways to strengthen the Campins brand.
.:. Camille Campins .:. The youngest of the Campins women and undoubtedly the one who is always right – just ask her. As an agent of the Campins Company, her tenacity is a cornerstone of her expertise and success. But as my sister and the honorary Stepford Wife, it’s almost guaranteed that we will be on opposing teams... hers naturally including Sofia.
.:. Ben Moss .:. My partner and the only male professionally, but not genetically, obligated to show up to the office every day. He is the sheriff in town, and by self-proclamation, not a participant in any of the Cubana drama. He is consistently a straight-shooter, validated by his skills and successes; Ben is truly second to none. I mean, a woman doesn’t just trust her business and her dogs in the shared custody of any ordinary ex-husband.
.:. Randy Campins .:. Known for an array of different roles, my father, an avid outdoorsman, has skillfully avoided the perpetual cat clawing of the Campins women and now officiates the chaos from the safety of retirement. His poignant and swift commentary is usually met with sobering laughter and only later praised for it’s purely honest and comedic genius.
.:. Katrina Campins .:. I would describe my professional personality as exploratory… with space exploratory being the closest. I am not confined by the contemporary understandings of this world. I think outside of the box, outside of the whole room actually. For that, I am usually met with some teasing or rational disagreement, but even a man on the moon seemed impossible to most people in the 1950s. The gravity in my life, what keeps my feet planted, is the endeavor for peace. Balance and harmony are the things that I will not compromise for any goal.
This is my movie and a taste of my world, the only way I know how to serve it – No. Sugar. Added.
